Move from another website without losing search traffic

Updated

If your show already has a website, people and search engines know its addresses. Redirects send each old address to the matching page on your new site, so nobody hits a dead end and your rankings carry over.

  1. Open your site’s Settings and choose Redirects.
  2. Under Moving from another site, type your old site’s address and choose Find old addresses.
  3. We read the old site’s sitemap and match its episode pages to yours. Check the matches.
  4. Add any addresses the importer missed by hand.
  5. Connect your domain to Podcasso, if it’s the same domain as the old site.

Do this before you switch the domain over. The old site has to be online for us to read its sitemap.

How the redirects work

They’re permanent (301) redirects, the kind search engines expect when a page moves. They only apply where your new site doesn’t have a page of its own at that address.
